Narrative

Well... I totally suck at writing stories but recently after hearing stuff from YY about Momento(the story structure) and having watched Deja vu, I'm starting to find the experimental side of Narrative writing. YY said that Momento's plot had 3 timelines. 1 of the Past and present which is moving forward in time, the other is this past which sort of move backwards ( as if its revealing the past) SO COOL... then here comes Deja vu where the story sort of tells you the ending first then as the story progresses, the ending seems to be more and more apparent but when it finally reaches that point the story changes. Its playing with what the audience already know( or think they know) then making a big twist out of it. Though I too think that the story still have some loops holes like "what happens to the inital timeline?" sort of thing, but the way they play with the amount of information being fed to the audience is totally cool!
I'm trying to write a script regarding my friend who recently passed away and I'm trying to incorporate a different flow in timeline to the story and at the same time I'm trying to make the film's information flow like how one would read a chinese painting. (Different parts of the scene tells different parts of the story) SO COOL... Hopefully it works.. Well, its a good start and it could be my style of writing. If I can't write Narrative the old fashion way, why not try something different? I might find a whole new way of looking at stuff, and when I do, I'm gonna nail it right at the heart of the world.

Happy Feet

Just caught "Happy Feet" animation rox... lip sync was godly... overall great.
The line "Don't ask me to change... cos I know I can't." really got to me
The story about Happy Feet was about this weirdo Penguin which breaks tradition.
The line was said when the whole penguin community stares at Bo Bo( or whatever he is called) and forces him to follow tradition (Including his dad) .
I sort of relate it to myself when in a Narrative based film major, "Don't force me to change, cos I know I can't". I'm more of a experimental person. I want to be exposed to as much as possible so as to really know more about myself. What I really Like, what I'm good at. And I know I can't do well in Narrative. So why force me.
Raymond said something which really hit on me. "Make projects into fields which u are interested in. Though u may not score well, but u are doing what u really wan to do."
This should be the path I shall walk and I hope I can follow this path without any distractions.

Fly By Nite

Yesterday was the "Fly by Night" screening, we all had 3 days to conceptualise, shoot, edit and print. ADM had 5 teams out of 50 and 3 won. We didn't win... so sad... but I sure learnt a lot. Team 33, Micheal, Danny, Jeff and me. Mike seems to have the Muse captured and locked up in a little box where he brings it along everywhere. He just gets ideas flowing in... ( I want that too... duhh) Danny's like the Producer, he planned all the timings needed to meet and logistics and stuff like that... He made arrangments for all our equipments and transport.. He Drives... And we have Jeff who was like the God of Effects or something... And little ol' me.. well... I could handle camera work but there wasn't much to handle in this proj... And most of the time my brain was quite dead... Wanted to sleep so much... haha.. From those guys, I've learnt so much... What to take note for... How to plan for this kind of shoot... COOL STUFF!!
Photog grp was fantastic.. They had Lots of fun... Got 2nd place too.. woo hoo...
Then 3 grps went to catch a movie (Of cos the winning team treated.. wakeke...)

Uncertainty

Questions I have... Answers I already have.. yet Assurance is what I do not get. Not from others but from the self... Fear controls my every move.. Blinded... caged... trapped...
But I do see the light... Though I have drawn the path but the mind is trapped in the old muddy road... I know but I can't do... not now...
